Identification - Very large parakeet, largest local parakeet which has a large red bill. Overall colour is green. It has a red shoulder patch. Male has a black lining from the lower bill, chin to the half of the neck, upper collar is pink and also blue colour is visible over the pink collar. Female lack of black and pink collar.  Juvenile is paler but has the large red bill and the red shoulder patch. Base of the tail is green while the edge is mostly yellow. Feed on small fruits, seeds.

Nest in tree holes, they sometimes excavate tree holes by themselves.
